Maternal Objectification

Objectification theory gives us a framework to understand the process by which women, girls, and femme-presenting people are viewed primarily as sexual objects (Fredrickson & Roberts, 1997). Dr. Jawed-Wessel and her team are exploring how to expand existing conceptualizations of objectification theory to better explain the phenomenon of maternal objectification at the micro (e.g. inter/intrapersonal relationships) and macro levels (e.g. cultural norms/policy decisions).
